Coffee Mate Creamer Provides Health Dangers

Hello dear friends! A very big hello to all of you.It has been so long since I am posting anything and sharing with you. I really missed posting and sharing with you, missed reading your replies and comments. But today before I post anything, let me first know how you all are doing? Hope all is well. Anyways, whatever the

news from you guys, I just want to wish you all a great and wonderful life, and we are very glad and grateful that you all like our blog spot so much, and would like to give you many, many thanks for appreciating our posts.

Well, me? I am just awesome, awesome exploring the beauty of life and a little busy with the college works.

I am writing today on the side/adverse effects of long term use of the coffee mate creamers, sitting next to my room window, watching the wonderful rain and of course not to forget about my mug of hot coffee, whisked with the coffee mate creamer, hopefully for the last time! And I am sure, while reading my today's post you guys are taking a sip of the same too.

So, this coffee mate creamer, it is a favorite of our all, right? Now, to some of us without this creamer, the taste of the, specially black coffee seems incomplete or bitter. However to some, such as to my younger sister, who is a lactose intolerant. People with lactose intolerance cannot digest the carbohydrate, lactose, in milk due to the lack of the enzyme lactase in their system. So, these people use the coffee mate creamer for a long period of time, even in their teas in addition to coffee instead of milk to add the creamy taste. Also the coffee lovers use it for a long period of their lives.

So, one day, it just clicked to my head that if there are any side/adverse effects of long term use of coffee mate creamer use when I was little concerned about my sister. And guess what fiends, I was not that surprised as I was suspecting the fact to be so that these non - dairy creamers are really bad for the health specially for the heart. But I was surprised to know that these creamers actually do not have any nutritional ingredients in them.

Originally coffee mate creamers were composed primarily of sugar and cream in the 1950s first. But as time passed, the manufacturers replaced the cream and natural sugars with vegetable oils, chemical sweeteners and additional additives, and now these coffee mates even contain corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, enzymes, fl avoids, stabilizers and others that once came from food sources but no longer seems to serve any nutritonal values. That is why the FDA does not list coffee mate as a dairy product, but approved it to be actually safe for general use.

Let us see how the non - nutritional components of today's coffee mate creamer provides the health dangers in the long term use to its regular users :

Processed Sugar :  Simple sugars themselves are observed to aggravate asthma, move mood swings, provoke personality changes, mental illness, nourish nervous disorders, increase risk of diabetes, promote heart disease, grow gallstones, promote hypertension and add arthritis. I n turn these creamers contain refined sugars, which lack minerals and vitamins. As a result they deplete the body's micro nutrients by using them to metabolize themselves into the system. This depletion leads to increased metabolism of  cholesterol and fatty acids  resulting in high blood serum triglycerides, cholesterol, etc. Higher fatty acid storage takes place around body organs and in sub - cutaneous tissues, which leads to promoted obesity.

Vegetable Oil ( Partially Hydrogenated Coconut Or Palm Kernel, Hydrogenated Soybean - Trans - Fatty Acids )  : It causes its bad effects by resulting in high blood cholesterol, thus, causing hardening of arteries which ultimately leads to heart attack. After ingesting these trans - fatty acids, they are incorporated into cells and the cells are hydrogenated. Surprisingly, the body cannot distinguish between cis -  and trans - fatty acids. Hydrogenation of cells leads to increased rates of heart attack, sexual dysfunction, weakened immune system, cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes and obesity.

Corn Syrup Solids : Corn syrup causes diabetes and corn syrup solids are a corn syrup concentrated to contain less than 10% water and the glucose ( dextrose ) content must be at-least 88% of the concentrated syrup's weight. These highly processed substances are very much harmful to human health.

Sodium Casein ate : ( a milk derivative ), though is good for health, is contained in only less than 2%.

Di potassium Phosphate : (Used to moderate coffee acidity ). It's side effects include :

1. Pneumonia
2. Acute renal failure
3. Nausea and vomiting
4. Diarrhea
5. Asthenia ( weakness )
6.Decreased hemoglobin

Mono And Diglycerides :  ( Used to prevent oil separation ). Used for whitening effect and artificial creamy flavor. I t is also found in some pesticides. These are used to prolong product shelf - life, to maximize profits.

Sodium Aluminosilicate Or Aluminium Calcium Silicate :  Side effects include :

1. Constipation
2. Liver disease
3. Renal failure

So, friends. What do you think now? I think, it is not too late to know that one of our favorite routine intakes actually could cause very ill effects to our health in the long term. So, those of my friends who are visiting this post today or some other time, must now think of an alternative to these non - nutritional, health hazardous coffee mate creamers to cream your coffee and teas, and I must aware my sister of these ill effects and also find her some alternatives. However, the following are some of the safer alternatives that you can use in place of your present coffee mate :

1. Those who are not lactose intolerants can use milk and fresh cream, which will be nutritious to your health at the same time while giving your tea and coffee a creamy taste.

2. Cinnamon and vanilla also give good flavors to your black?white coffee.

3.Almond extracts can also give you a creamy and rich flavor to your coffee.

4. Liquid coconut creams would be very delicious to lactose intolerance people.

I would prefer the liquid coconut cream for my sister and I am going to suggest this to my sister.

Do not be any more late to replace your non - nutritional coffee mate creamer with any of the above suggested alternatives or with any of your own choice.

So friends, it is time for me to say goodbye today. While going I hope today's post was very much informative to you all and would like to thank me for posting this info today.

Well, you are always welcome to enjoy our posts.

Goodbye to all till my next post, and till then all of you stay healthy, be passionate and keep blogging, and of course, enjoy your coffee!

hi,
a diabetic friend (70 yrs.) tells me that non-dairy creamer is a "free" food, for diabetics. Label mentions no sugar, but does have corn syrup solids. Also, his intake is 4 large soup spoons. 12-15 grams per mug of coffee. can you enlighten me and my friend.

very informative, just new this
crap is bad for you.
5 cups coffee a day x 2.5 tsp of creamer. Nearly 13 teaspoons a day x 30 days a month x 12 Months a year.
Get my drift, I WILL NEVER EVER USE THIS CRAP AGAIN.
P.S do you think the damage is reversible?

Well thank you for the insight. Im as we speak sitting with a good coffee and coffee mate but for a while Ive had an uneasy feeling that its not good for me. Have you ever left the spoon after stirring the coffee with coffee mate on the saucer until it drys. It hardens to a solid that you can just about chip off.Maybe it could be a great glue alternative? Made me think what its doing to my insides. So sad but this is my last coffee mate.I had a cholestoral test taken recently and its on the brink. Im so healthy , exercising at least 3 times a week, eating well etc so this is the only thing I could put it down to. Im looking forward to seeing the results in a few more weeks coffee mateless. Thanks for the write up :)

I woke today wondering that, in spite of how healthy my eating habits may be, could my daily coffee-mate be harmful? My consumption is probably 3x the 'normal' rate.
Thank you for your enlightening post. I will NO LONGER be drinking non-dairy creamers.
Best of luck to your sister!

I have noticed that I have been using more and more coffee mate these days. My husband says I like a little hot tea with my coffee mate. It's also expensive if you use a lot. I started thinking, is this stuff bad for me? Thanks for answering my question! Ann

I was just diagnosed with liver disease with no apparent reason behind it. I started researching all the things I ingest on a daily basis. I've used Coffeemate brand creamer for many, many years ... it's been hard to drink coffee with out it and coffee is one of the few vices I have. I don't drink, don't smoke, but I do enjoy my 2-3 cups of coffee each day. I've always used a lot of creamer in each cup, too, like 2 TBS. Not anymore. Time to work on healing my liver, if it's not too late. I don't know why our country allows all these chemicals, etc., to be put into our food supply. It's to the point that we need to research everything we eat prior to having a meal. I am now eating mainly fresh vegetables and fruits, but even they have pesticides and who knows what on them, and grown in soil with chemicals galore. All of us can't afford to buy organic. It seems that man himself will be the destruction of mankind.

By the way, thank you for your post. I hope many see it and realize the dangers. Best wishes to your sister.

I am concerned about the aluminum (sodium aluminosilicate). Aluminum is toxic to the brain. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/03/22/aluminum-toxicity-alzheimers.aspx We certainly don't need to invite Alzheimer's disease by loading up on aluminum.

Ugh.. I've been trying so hard to eat healthy, and thought I was doing so, until I turned over the coffee mate non dairy creamer container at work yesterday.. and took a quick read. It's funny, because I have really cut down on my coffee consumption for healthough reasons. I usually have one cup of coffee in the morning, and two decafs throughout the day at work. However, two decafs a day with coffee mate stirred in, 5 days a week, really adds up! It really made me sit up and take notice, and wonder what other seemingly innocent things I am doing to derail my weight loss. Nice article and blog! Keep up the good work.

i was recently diagnosed with "orthostatic hypotesion", felt very weak, to much problem when i get up from bed, I was very much worried.
The only change I added to my daily diet was coffee with coffee mate, 2 cups a day for 6 months now.
i decided not take medication and stop it and observed, after 4 days my dizziness and lightheaded is totally gone. I hope no more further complication.

Thank you for the information.I'm one of the coffee mate livers but I'm going to start watching my health

Why the heck would you put aluminosilicate in a food product? Quitting coffee-mate as of this minute.

This makes no sense. It is fake and chemical. I just found this out. Good grief.

My brother, age 61 has been using coffee mate for years. A few weeks ago he put it in his coffee and didn't stir it well enough. It settled at the bottom of the cup and when he gulped the last mouthful, he collapsed onto the floor. He could barely move. He couldn't take any air in. He pulled himself up onto a chair and forced the air out of his lungs. Finally he could breathe. The doctor said the concentration of the chemicals not being stirred well enough caused him to have a lung freeze! He is OK now but drinks his coffee black now!

Drink 5 cups of coffee per day. Add 3 tablespoons of coffee mate and 3 packets of Splenda or equal. Eventually your brain and body just start turning into crap. You don't even realize that it's happening. That's what happened to me. Went to a really good neurologist and was told to adjust diet. Mainly to stop artificial sweeteners. Took it one step further. Stopped the coffee mate and within a week felt better than I did in years!!!

Hi, as Ive grown older, I notice I drink anywhere from 3-5, 6-8oz cups of coffee per day. I love coffee mate so that I never measure, I just pour until I get hint above a carmel color then I figure thats enough. I go thru a big bottle in less than a week sometimes and then Im off to get more. It almost seems addicting. I'm starting to wonder whats more important the coffee or the mate. Well I got a phone call from my doctor with news of elevated cholesterol, "the bad one" she says. Ok so Ive just been looking at ways to eat healthier which for me won't be hard as I love veggies and some fruits. But the problem is I love food period and love to cook it and share it. So anyways I ran across this article and I was surprised it was so bad for us. And that it may be why Im gaining weight and have cholesterol issues, just to name a few.I go to bed with a cup of regular coffee and coffee mate as it relaxes me. If I dont have a cup before bed, the next day I have an headache. Go figure right? ok well this was just too enlightening, Im off to the store to eagerly find my new fix. Thanks for the wake up and thanks for listening alternatives.I wish you and your sister well as well as all those visting your site.

Thanks so much for this info. I have loved the Coffee Mate Hazelnut for years and have it every morning. I was always a little skeptical about it but I finally, as of today, dumped it all down the drain. I will stick with only natural enhancements as you suggested. I hope I haven't done too much harm to my arteries, heart, etc. Thanks again!

I have a favorite restaurant down the road where we occasionally have breakfast. Every time, within a half hour of eating, I would get awful cramping and diarrhea. I quit eating there for months thinking it was something they were doing in the kitchen! Just went back after months of staying away, and sure as heck I ate and became sick immediately!! I do have a very sensitive stomach. I finally asked myself what is the one thing I have every time I go....yep coffee and the cream! The only creamer they use is coffee mate! I'm glad I found this blog. It has to be it! I'm enjoying my coffee here at home right now with half and half and feel just fine. Ate my blueberries and power bar. No cramps or diarrhea.....it must be the coffee mate.

OMG I have been in poor health lately. I Drink 8 cups,640z a day for 6 years. I think it's the coffee and cream that has made me feel so old and weak. I'm 55 but I move about like I'm 90 years old. I can barely walk and do simple household choirs.I love Coffee but it don't love me. No more I'm done

Thank you so much for the info. Lately i have been having so much problems with constipation and i never really noticed the cream to be giving me that problem. I thought it was the food i was eating and the unclean diet i had. Until i ened up switching milk with cream here and there, the days i used milk i was better and the days i used cream i was bloated, consipated and my stomach really had bad cramps. This post really helps alot and thank you.

Thank you all very much for your sharing, information, warnings ... . Very helpful and timely.
Will throw away my "coffee mates ".
What is scary and should cause alarm is that sale of "3-in-in" or "2-in-1" Coffee, Tea, etc, etc is ubiquitous.
Supermarkets, etc are chock full of them on their shelves !
They come together with "creamers" and make life so convenient for consumers. Seems to be very popular judging by the multifarious brands and types...
