But I think, this Christmas Santa is going to bring such a gift to all of us from God, which will put an end to our waiting for the day when people may get rid of the painful insulin intake, rather they will take insulin like all other random oral medications. So friends, here we go with Snata's Christmass groundbreaking breakthrough news in medical science of an " insulin pill " ( oral insulin ), first time in medical science.




Oral insulin is being tried to be made since the 1930s, but for two main reasons this has not been a reality for all these past years.

1. Insulin being a protein, when comes in contact with stomach enzymes after oral ingestion, it gets destroyed and absorption is not enough to get the desired plasma insulin concentration.

2.Insulin is a quiet big molecule ( about 30 times the size of an aspirin molecule ) to be absorbed into the bloodstream to exert its effect.



To overcome these two obstacles in developing an effective insulin pill, some Indian scientists

1.Enclosed or packed the insulin in tiny sacs made of lipids or fats called liposomes.

2.Then these liposomes were wrapped in protective layers called the poly - electrolytes.

3.Then, finally to help these two layered insulin to get absorbed into the bloodstream properly, they attached a kind of vitamin B, folic acid ( Vitamin B9 ). This vitamin has shown to help the transport of liposomes across the intestinal wall into the blood stream.



The lipids used in the pills are cheaper and have successfully been used to deliver many medicines previously. These lipids protect the insulin from stomach enzymes and carry the insulin to the intestine where they get absorbed successfully. When the lipid - covered tiny sacs enter the small intestine, special cells on its lining called microfold cells get attracted to the folic acid in them. The folic acid helps activate a transport mechanism that let big molecules pass through the intestinal wall into the blood stream. A safe amount of folic acid is used in making these insulin pills.

In studies with rats, these insulin pills lowered blood glucose levels as much as an injected insulin.

But the most amazing news about these insulin pills is that, the effect of an insulin injection lasted only for 6 to 8 hours requiring another injection dose shortly within, but the effect of an insulin pill lasted for more than 18 hours. Is not that just amazing friends!

Another advantage is that, oral insulin like the naturally secreted insulin from pancreas goes to the liver first before reaching the blood stream, but injected insulin directly leads the insulin to the blood, which is not quiet natural for the body.

But till it has entered the phase II clinical trial, the most advanced phase reached by any oral insulin idea so far. After this miraculous innovation successfully completes its clinical trials on human volunteers, people around the world with diabetes will no more have to bear the pain of injecting insulin and carrying the insulin kit with them where ever they travels.



























So dear friends, this discovery will reduce a lot of pain bared by the diabetic patients all around the world.The lives of these patients will never be the same any more. And we should really be grateful and give humble thanks to the scientists who worked so hard, night and day behind this discovery. May God bless them.

Jack Andraka, A 15 Year School Boy Revolutionarily Combats Pancreatic Cancer


Jack Andraka, who is he? Let me inform you that this is the child prodigy, genius or sophomore or whatever you call, who has broken the ground of pancreatic cancer in the medicine world by his invention of a test that could detect pancreatic cancer in its very early stage than any other tests available. Before getting into detail, let me share something .

I never liked reading story books. Believe me friends, just never and ever. But I am talking about the instance, once when I was having a magazine in my hands in which  the life story of Steve Jobs, yes, the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, one of my favorites, was written. I was  just giving a glance at the story and soon it turned out to be  very enjoyable reading the story. And since then, I have a feeling that reading story books and novels would sometimes be fun and we could also learn a whole universe of  things from them.

Steve Jobs died from lately detected pancreatic cancer . His pancreatic cancer could not be detected in the very early stage and as a result he could not get appropriate treatment for this and this  ultimately led him to death with a last stage pancreatic cancer. Now, just imagine how many people like him die from the same problem of  late pancreatic cancer detection. 19 out of 20 people die of pancreatic cancer within five years. Does not the survival rate seem to be totally negligible. Well friends, I think there is a miracle solution to this problem now.Yes, this is a miracle breakthrough towards saving millions of people’s life from deadly pancreatic cancer and even from ovarian and lung cancer too.




Again, guess what friends, very amazingly, like Akrit Jaswal, the youngest 7 year old surgeon of the world, this miracle revolution is brought about by only a 15 year old school boy. Wow, so amazing. This boy claims that the use of this test, the survival rates from pancreatic cancer, which were almost negligible, could be raised to 100%  For me, these are angels being sent by God to alleviate sufferings of the ill people on the earth.

What Is This Test

Jack Andraka, from Crownsville, Maryland, developed a simple dip – stick type sensor test for detecting elevated levels of a protein called mesothelin. This protein is always present in blood and urine but the elevated levels of this protein indicates the presence of pancreatic cancer, ovarian and lung cancers too, which have been a really difficult job for the scientist for years..Jack developed the test which could detect this initial increase in mesothelin levels during the early stages of pancreatic, ovarian and lung cancers when there is a greater chance of cure of the cancer if treated appropriately. This little boy has done such a wonderful job with only the reach of  Wikipedia and Google as his primary tools which are available to any one on the earth with an internet connection that even many great scientists could not managed to do after years of research and with millions of dollars – worth of research.

This test is claimed to be 168 times faster, simple and sensitive 26, 000 less expensive and 400 times more standard than the current standard available tests.

In a similar way antibodies fit into an antigen binding site like a lock and key, he laced carbon nano - tubes with mesothelin specific antibodies which specifically attracted the mesothelin protein in blood and urine and then the nano – tube strip generated an consequent electrical signal large enough to detect with a simple ohm meter.

The test works in a similar way that the diabetic test strips work, just requiring a single drop of blood wether these patients are carrying the elevated levels of the mesothelin biomarkers. The results are claimed to be 90% accurate and cost about 3 cents only, which is a really good news for the people from a low earning family to reach out for medical help.

What Led Jack to Start His Research

Many times it happens that someone close to us has died of deadly disease and we get so deeply attacked by emotions that we feel like if we had the power to do something to combat the disease and could save the life of the loved one. But for most of the cases, that is it, we just  remain emotionally suffered, not having the courage to do something. But this little boy has not just stopped by emotions as a family uncle of his died from this deadly pancreatic cancer. He started researching on this disease and getting to the root of the reason that why this cancer is not preventable. He thought that  there must be a simple way. And when he started his research, very interestingly he did not even know that he himself had a pancreas.

In the meantime his father, who is a civil engineer, and him has been using carbon nano – tubes to screen compounds in water from Chesapeake Bay. The carbon nano – tubes are tiny cylindrical structures and have the property of  conducting electricity better than copper. Together with these properties of carbon nano – tubes and the lectures on antibodies by his biology teacher, he found his eureka moment that what if  he laced a carbon nano  tube with a mesothelin specific antibody and then introduce a drop of blood from a pancreatic cancer patient? This idea led him to complete his theory research and start doing the lab research.

How Jack Andraka Made This Invention  Possible

Jack thought of lacing  the nano -  tubes with the antibody specific mesothelin and introduced a pancreatic cancer  patient’s blood. The antibodies would bind to the mesothelin and enlarge which would cause the nano – tubes to spread further apart changing the electrical properties of the nano – tube network. The more mesothelin  present, the more antibodies would bind to the protein and the more the tube would enlarge, and the weaker the electrical signal would become. This would detect the elevating levels of mesothelin in blood and urine of these patients in the early stage of their pancreatic cancer.

Jack Andraka mailed his experimental protocol to 200 researchers, from which only one researcher called  Dr. Anirban Maitra, responded and invited Jack to his lab. Jack’s test detected mesothelin in artificial samples and pinpointed mesothelin in the blood of mice carrying  human pancreatic tumors. Jack Andraka’s breakthrough could now grant a survival rate of 100% for pancreatic cancer patients. 

About The Little Scientist Jack Andraka

Jack Thomas Andraka, born in 1997, from Crownsville, Maryland, is a an inventor, scientist and cancer researcher. He is the 2012 Intel Science Fair Grand prize winner and he was awarded the Gordon E. Moore Award for the invention of  the new  simple, rapid, reliable and sensitive dip – stick type sensor for the detection of the early stage of pancreatic cancer and also ovarian and lung cancer. The Gordon E. Moore Award is for $75, 000. He also won other prizes totaling a  prize of $ 100,500.

So friends, if suspecting for pancreatic, lung or ovarian cancer or other forms of cancer, tuberculosis, HIV, etc., it is time to be fearless as this revolutionary dip – stick test could save us by leading to seek early medical treatments.

The whole story was just incredibly fantastic for me, and I hope, it was far more fantastic to you all friends. These little Einsteins should be saluted by us, so let us salute them friends.

World's Youngest Surgeon!....Just Incredible!


Youngest Surgeon of The World:The Seven Year-Old Surgeon



Hello, friends.How you all are doing?I hope you all are just doing awesome.But sorry for our late posts, friends.We are going through a tough exam time actually,being the reason behind our late posts..But anyway, after getting through the incredible news of this young boy named, Akrit Jaswal,I just could not help myself  to get off the study table and share this unbelievable incident with you.

So, about, Akrit Jaswal, who has been very reputably famed as the world's youngest physician, in fact as the youngest seven year old surgeon despite ever being attending a medical school.Akrit Jaswal (born April 23, 1993) is an Indian adolescent,a Hindu Rajput of Jaswal clan from Punjab,who gained fame for performing surgery at the age of seven on a 8 year old girl whose fingers were fused together after being burnt.

According to his mother Raksha Kumari Jaswal, Akrit was an early starter, skipped the toddler stage and started walking. He started speaking in his 10th month and was reading Shakespeare at the age of 5 and developed a passion for science and anatomy at an early age. 

Then very interestingly doctors at local hospitals took notice and started allowing him to observe surgeries when he was 6 years old.Inspired by what he saw, Akrit read everything he could on the topic.

When an impoverished family heard about his amazing abilities, they asked if he would operate on their daughter for free. Her surgery was a celebrated success.

After the surgery, Akrit was hailed as a medical genius in India. Neighbors and strangers flocked to him for advice and treatment. At age 11, Akrit was admitted to a Punjab University. He's the youngest student ever to attend an Indian university. That same year, he was also invited to London's famed Imperial College to exchange ideas with scientists on the cutting edge of medical research. 
Akrit says he has millions of medical ideas, but he's currently focused on developing a cure for cancer. "I've developed a concept called oral gene therapy on the basis of my research and my theories", he says, "I'm quite dedicated towards working on this mechanism."However, his work towards a cure for cancer was criticised by British doctors and researchers since they claim his understanding on the topic was vague.
But friends, I think he would make his research success full, after all he is genius borne gifted.

Growing up, Akrit says he used to see cancer patients lying on the side of the road because they couldn't afford treatment or hospitals had no space for them. Now, he wants to use his intellect to ease their suffering. "[I've been] going to hospitals since the age of 6, so I have seen firsthand people suffering from pain," he says. "I get very sad, and so that's the main motive of my passion about medicine, my passion about cancer." 


Currently, Akrit is working toward a bachelor's degree in zoology, botany and chemistry. Someday, he hopes to continue his studies at Harvard University.
He possesses books such as Gray's Anatomy, and textbooks on surgery, anaesthesia, anatomy, physiology, cancer, and others. Akrit claims to have mastered them with his daily habit of studying for an hour.
But, Oh my God friends, for me he is just another Albert Einstien took birth in this world to erase the sufferings of the ill ones.

In his spare time, Akrit enjoys playing and watching cricket.

Daily Aspirin Use Reduces Deaths From Cancer And Its Spread


Hello visitors. You all are welcomed to our blog spot today in joining us in some revolutionary and innovative news related to aspirin.

Today the way people are being diagnosed with and dying from cancer is terrifying. But our great scientists are constant in trying to give us hope to fight cancer and to reduce cancer associated mortality rates. Now days, uterus cancer, GIT cancer, etc. are being the most prevalent.

But, remember friends, in my last post I discussed about a new and somewhat threatening adverse effect of aspirin, the increased risk of blindness due to long - term aspirin use in elderly patients. Despite that potential adverse effect of aspirin, aspirin is thought to make a breakthrough inn researches to prevent cancer patients from dying.

I was really surprised and amazed to know that healthy people when took a small dose of aspirin daily for 11 years,their risks to die from cancer were reduced by 16% and also, though not as strong as thought to be, daily aspirin use even protected against cancer in people with no previous history of cancer.

More interestingly, simply taking  an aspirin tablet daily for several years reduced gastrointestinal cancers, such as, stomach and colo - rectal cancers by 40% and deaths from cancers by 12% on an average.

But aspirin use did not seem to reduce lung cancer in smokers.

Now friends, do not you want to know exactly how aspirin is doing this job of reducing risks of cancer and its spread : 

It may damp down body's inflammation and slow down cell's mutation that ultimately turn out into cancer cells, thus slowing down the spread of cancer around the body by preventing these cancer cells from sticking to blood platelets, and thus, this is how the mortality rates are thought to be reduced in cancer patients 


But to be noted that, as it is so simple a formula: take an aspirin tablet daily and get rid of cancer risk,it does not really mean that friends,that people just start up daily aspirin doses without keeping any concern about its well known major adverse effects of GIT damage leading to internal bleeding and increased risk of blindness,and without consulting your physician. 

The research evidence is not yet mature enough for people to commence its use for this cancer purpose, because even a small dose of aspirin could lead to stomach bleeding, though its use for its prophylactic function remains in the same place.

Use of aspirin for combating cancer deaths should strictly be made considering the risk - benefit ratio, patient's history and physician's consult. Till then let us all wait for this great revolutionary and innovative procedure to get completely safe and mature for our use.

Cancer Detection By Jellyfish



Hey friends, today i am  going to take you  into the sea and  to look how beautiful the sea creatures are. How amazingly they are living in the sea. But have we ever asked yourselves about how they fight to live their lives, how they survive?How they themselves immuned to disorders, such as cancer? However, now the scientists are going to, in our modern technological life  to try to  find out something different that no-one imagined or thought. I am now going to discuss with you about one of the sea creatures from which the scientists are trying to get something to treat the cancer or to detect the cancer cells. And the most amazing news is, we are almost in the border line of the success.
I am going to discuss about  the beautiful sea creature we know by the name of Jellyfish, isn’t it so beautiful, colorful creation of the sea.

                       
Now our creative, innovative, breakthrough and informative document is that Jellyfish is now inspiring us and our scientists  a way to detect cancer, microbes and viruses. In this research a device is invented which could help quickly and sensitively detect life-threatening diseases and capture dangerous cells for analysis so that doctors can devise the best therapies to fight them.
From this topic I can share with you that sometimes I say : “Nature has overcome the most challenging barriers ….. Evolution really is the best problem-solver, and there is so much we can learn from nature."
I think we all know about DNA but who does not know clearly - DNA is the molecule that holds the blueprints of life. Sequences of DNA known as aptamers also show a remarkable ability to bind onto very specific targets.
To test this device, the researchers generated long DNA strands with aptamers that would bind onto a protein found abundantly on the surfaces of human cancer cells. The strands are up to hundreds of microns long — in comparison, the average human hair is about 100 microns wide. The length of these strands gives them more area to snag onto target proteins and their associated cells than other methods that employ antibodies or shorter DNA strands.
In experiments, blood samples containing leukemia cells were flowed past the device. These long DNA tentacles efficiently captured up to about 80 percent of these cells, about six times more than methods relying on antibodies or shorter DNA strands.
The chip which have developed is highly sensitive, and from just a tiny amount of blood, the chip can detect and capture the small population of cancer cells responsible for cancer  relapse.
In hunting for blood-based cancers, the device might also find cancer cells that have broken away from tumors and are traveling through the bloodstream. Roaming cancers known as metastases are the leading cause of deaths from cancer, but these wandering cells are very rare in the bloodstream, with just a few to several thousand per milliliter of a patient's blood.
This device has the potential to catch these cells before they may seed a new tumor in a distant organ. The researchers say that they could speed up  the system  fast enough for practical use in the clinic.
Even the researchers say that if a patient had a rapid test they  could tell  where these cells can seed a metastasis, that would help to monitor the progression of therapy and progression of the disease.
One of the greatest challenges in the treatment of cancer patients is to know which drug to prescribe. But we can say that, "By isolating circulating tumor cells before and after the first round of chemotherapy is given, we can determine the biology behind why certain cells are resistant to chemotherapy. We can also use the isolated cells to screen drugs for personalized treatments that could boost effectiveness and hopefully prevent cancer relapse."
